PURPOSE:
To commit to support and implement the DeKalb County Animal Services Advisory Board’s five-year plan (2023-2028) Common Sense Solutions: Plan for a Better Tomorrow
NEED/IMPACT:
The DeKalb County Animal Services Advisory Board (DCASAB) advances humane and healthy treatment of animals and advises DeKalb, the Governing Authority and Animal Services on the welfare of animals. DCASAB has worked to develop common sense solutions to address the current Animal Services challenges. DCASAB developed the 5-point, five-year plan (2023-2028) Common Sense Solutions: Plan for a Better Tomorrow to address shelter space, staffing needs, resources and support for pet families, to develop new legislation, and to reduce court-held animal delays.

RECOMMENDATION:
Recommended Action
To approve the resolution committing to support and implement the DeKalb County Animal Services Advisory Board’s Five-Year Plan (2023-2028) Common Sense Solutions: Plan for a Better Tomorrow and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
