PURPOSE:

To appropriate District 7 reserves in the amount of $15,000 to Royal Adult Day Services to provide therapy
services and programming to DeKalb County senior citizens living with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

 According to the Alzheimer’s Association, over six million people aged 65 and older in the United States have

Alzheimer’s disease. Approximately, 10,000 are living with the disease in DeKalb County. Research shows that

feelings of isolation have serious health consequences, including anxiety, stress, decreased mental wellness, and

physical problems. The funds will be used to provide therapy services and programming with a focus on

memory stimulation and engagement for senior citizens living with Alzheimer’s and dementia in DeKalb

County.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Increase appropriation for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Other Miscellaneous Payments (09130.573099.272.0000.0000) - $15,000

 

Decrease appropriation for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) - $15,000

To approve the resolution and authorize the chief executive officer to execute all necessary documents.
