PURPOSE:
To appropriate District 7 Reserves in the amount of $10,000 to the James M. Dixon Foundation for Alzheimer’s And Dementia Research And Support for Alzheimer’s and dementia event, programming, and services.
NEED/IMPACT:
There is a rapid growth in the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease, and only around one in four people with the disease get diagnosed. Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the U.S. killing more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Approximately, 10,000 are living with the disease in DeKalb County. Research shows that feelings of isolation have serious health consequences, including anxiety, stress, decreased mental wellness, and physical problems. The funds will be used to provide an event, programming, and services to assist DeKalb residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Increase appropriation for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Decrease appropriation for the following account by the amount indicated below:
Non-Departmental - Unincorporated Fund - Reserve for Appropriation (09130.579002.272.0000.0000) - $10,000
