PURPOSE:
To approve the transfer of 10,000 from the District 6 Youth Allocation Fund to the Mohammed Schools of Atlanta in support of their Firdous Community Garden High School Urban Agriculture Science Project-Based Learning Program providing DeKalb County Youth with agribusiness and entrepreneurship skills through practical education and experience while focusing on skills development and project-based learning and fostering a strong sense of environmental stewardship. The budget is provided in the attachment.

NEED/IMPACT:
There is a growing demand for a holistic educational approach that equips students with hands-on experiences, fosters entrepreneurship, and cultivates environmental stewardship, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. This appropriation will allow the Mohammed Schools of Atlanta to expand the Garden Program beyond K-8 and develop project-based learning opportunities for High School students, expanding their hands on experiences with agribusiness and entrepreneurship. Additionally, given the diverse student body and the rich cultural tapestry at Mohammed Schools, this program is essential in catering to varied interests and providing a comprehensive, inclusive education for students and the community in the area struggling to find affordable and nutritious items by this donated farm to table produce.
