PURPOSE:
To appropriate $16,900 from the 2023 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation funding for DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Mason Mill Park
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County’s Park Naturalist programming at Mason Mill Park will be enhanced with a collection of animal skull replicas with museum-style display cases. These can also be used at the Mason Mill Recreation Center Summer Camp and at local schools. Total: $1,900
Funding for invasive removal, which must be conducted year-round to be effective, is needed. Total: $10,000
In partnership with the Friends of Ira B. Melton Park, the Park Naturalist proposes to renovate the signage at Ira B. Melton, including three new trailhead signs with updated trail maps, two interpretive signs, one information kiosk, and two mirrors designed with park ranger hats for kids to “picture themselves as rangers.” Total: $5,000

Decrease appropriations for the following account by the amount indicated below:

Recommended Action
To approve the appropriation of $16,900 from the 2023 District 2 Reserve for Appropriation Funding for the DeKalb County Park Naturalist at Mason Mill Park and authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents.
