RA - Ratification of Purchase Order No. 1362014 Replacement of Engineered Material Arresting System (EMAS) Blocks (Emergency Purchase): for use by the DeKalb Peachtree Airport (PDK). This contract consists of replacing and installing 393 blocks and 8 shields in need of repair due to an aircraft accident. This request seeks to ratify an emergency purchase. PURPOSE:
This contract consists of an emergency purchase for the repair of 393 blocks and 8 shields within the EMAS damaged due to a recent crash. To bring the system back to its original design requirements, the damaged materials must be from the original manufacturer. This will ensure that the system meets the approved FAA design requirements. The inability for the Airport to use the EMAS at the main runway poses a risk to the public health, welfare, and safety. This request seeks to ratify the replacement of EMAS Blocks.
