PURPOSE:
For the DeKalb County Governing Body to approve a resolution to collaborate with MARTA to achieve portions of the DeKalb County Transit Master Plan Goals without additional sales tax levies.
NEED/IMPACT:
DeKalb County is committed to enhancing transportation options, improving accessibility, and promoting sustainable mobility for its residents and seeks to explore innovative financing methods to fund transit projects, reducing reliance on additional sales taxes.
This resolution requests MARTA to provide a detailed plan that outlines strategies for achieving the Transit Master Plan goals without relying on an additional sales tax. It further supports efforts to encourage DeKalb County and MARTA to engage in a collaborative and transparent process to determine the most effective and sustainable means of achieving the goals outlined in the Transit Master Plan while ensuring equitable access to transit services for all residents.
