PURPOSE:
To consider accepting and appropriating $750,000.00 of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for new sidewalks on parts of Columbia Drive and Rainbow Drive;
To consider reserving $3,250,000 of SPLOST I and II funds as needed for these new sidewalks; and
To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute all necessary documents for completion of this project.
NEED/IMPACT:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $750,000 of Community Project Funding to DeKalb County for new sidewalk on Columbia Drive (east side) from Columbia Woods Drive to Flat Shoals Parkway and on Rainbow Drive (south side) from DaVinci Boulevard to Shadowbrook Lane. The HUD and SPLOST funds will be used for design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of these sidewalks.
FISCAL IMPACT:
SPLOST funds in the amount of $3,250,000 will be needed to fully fund the project

Recommended Action
