PURPOSE:
1. To consider acceptance of WIOA PY 18 Youth grant funds not to exceed $250,000 for employment and training activities.
2. To consider authorizing the Chief Executive Officer to execute the necessary documents.

NEED/IMPACT:
We received notice from Technical College System of Georgia, the Grant Administrator for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act funding, of the availability of additional funds for PY 17 Youth programs. This approval will permit WorkSource DeKalb to accept up to $250,000 of additional funding to provide employment and training activities to reach more DeKalb County youth.

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) provides funding for Youth participants for employment and training activities. These funds will be used to provide DeKalb County youth citizens between the ages of 16 - 24 with job search assistance, labor market information, occupational trend information, resume preparation, and assistance with identifying employment opportunities available through both online and direct job sites. Additionally, funding will be used to provide interest and aptitude assessments and occupational skills training opportunities for WIOA eligible customers. No funds have been received or expended and no workforce activities are being conducted at this time for the above-mentioned grant award.

The PY19 funding will serve approximately 45 Youth in DeKalb County. The goals for the programs are to meet negotiated state level performance goals for Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth entered employment rates of 70%. WorkSource DeKalb perfor...
