Adoption of a Resolution to Relocate the Relic Cannon Located on Decatur Square.

PURPOSE:

 To adopt a resolution to authorize County staff to move the Relic Cannon to a storage facility within 90 days of adoption; and to authorize the County Attorney to advise the public of the ownership issues surrounding the Relic Cannon via the County legal organ and report any information obtained from the public to the Governing Authority.

 

NEED/IMPACT:

Adoption of this ordinance will allow for removal of the Relic Cannon from Decatur Square and to take steps to return the Relic Cannon to its owner(s), if such owner(s) can be identified and located.  

 

Attachment A to this item is the Resolution

Attachment B to this item is a Title Opinion for the Relic Cannon

Attachment C to this item are records obtained from the Historical Society related to the Relic Cannon

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 No immediate cost, potential costs of removal and storage.

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Recommended Action

Adopt the attached resolution and direct staff to remove the Relic Cannon within 90 days of adoption and further direct the County Attorney to advise the public of ownership issues related to the Cannon via the County Legal Organ and report back to the governing authority if and when any additional ownership information is obtained.
